Vokacom, a wholly-owned Ghanaian Information Technology (IT) Company, has been adjudged the Best Software Company of the Year at the 2018 edition of the Ghana Information, Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA).
The IT Service firm designed the Ghana’s Digital Property and Addressing System and collaborated with the Ghana Post Company Limited to implement it successfully.
Nana Osei Afrifa, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vokacom, was also adjudged the Young ICT Entrepreneur of the Year for his innovativeness and cutting-edge technology in the IT space.
The GhanaPostGPS app designed by Vokacom generates unique code for every property or location in the country and a national address registry embedded in the system enables individuals to validate their home and business addresses for easy direction and identification purposes.
In an interview with the media after receiving the award, the CEO of Vokacom applauded the hard working staff of the company for making it possible.“It’s really fulfilling to see our year of hard work culminates in this award. The team has been buzzing ever since we received the award. This means a lot to Vokacom.
“2017 was a challenging year and it really brings meaning to the saying that out of adversity comes strength,” he said.Nana Afrifa said winning the “Young ICT Entrepreneur of the Year” was a humbling experience, adding that, it was an award of hope, hope for the young ones starting out in life and chasing their dreams, they may be doubting themselves now, but they should never give up on hope.
Nana Afrifa described the Vokacom young team as “one of the most phenomenal groups of young and motivated professionals he has ever worked with, who strived to give off their best and creating value for their customers”. “At Vokacom, our mantra has always been ‘you’re either making money or you’re making noise’.
“We have always believed in creating value for our customers and a healthy bottom line always follows. “We were excited at the nomination and then we became hopeful. There were a lot of stalwarts in our category and we knew it would be a tough one, but we finally pulled through and we’re grateful,” he added.
Vokacom was established in 2004, and has nine subsidiary companies in Ghana and other African counties with over 40 staff. It offers services in the real estates, agribusiness solution, financial, high-end public addressing and telecommunication value-added services.
