The four-day event has brought together in excess of 1,000 delegates to engage in broad dialogue on how countries could reach their policy goals through deepening of the interaction with the private sector.

It provides the platform to highlight key trends driving the oil market at present and the potential game changers of the future energy landscape.

The biannual conference held in the Scandinavian nation, one of the world’s biggest oil producing countries, is being jointly hosted by the ONS Foundation and the Munich Security Conference.

There are more than 570 speakers and 1, 200 exhibitors, among them, some Ghanaian companies.Since the year 1974, ONS has become the world’s leading energy meeting place where key actors in the international energy industry and relevant political leaders meet to discuss issues relating to the industry and the future of the energy world.

Mr. Joseph Cudjoe, a Deputy Energy Minister, Mr Egbert Faibille Junior, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Ms. Alice Torkonoo, General Manger, Ghana ports and Harbours Authority and Mr Lawrence Apaalse, Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum are among Ghana’s delegation to the conference. 

Sustainability advocates, oil and gas executives, researchers and thought leaders are on hand to lead discussions on the future energy societies.These deliberations are being centred on topics such as “Oil and gas companies on track with the energy transformation?”, and “Cheering for corporate statesmanship”.

As part of the programme, a pitching contest was organized on Monday by Innovation Norway, where 11 Norwegian companies presented their solutions within clean energy technology. Mr. Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of Total and Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of UN Global Compact, shared their thoughts on the current energy perspectives.

Some of the Ghanaian exhibitors’, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, expressed their eagerness to forge new partnerships, woo new business clients and to network to grow the nation’s oil sector.
