Puma Energy, the global integrated midstream and downstream energy company, today launched its PumaMax 95 additised fuel for the South African market at the Festival of Motoring at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Midrand.
PumaMax 95 is a premium unleaded fuel that has been developed using new generation, performance-enhancing additives, which maximise engine performance and fuel economy, ensuring that Puma Energy products support all petrol engines and particularly, high performance vehicles.
Seggie Kistasamy, General Manager for Puma Energy South Africa said: “During the last few decades we have seen tremendous advances in the design of gasoline engine technologies. As vehicle manufacturers strive to meet more stringent government emissions regulations, so Puma Energy is ensuring that we offer ‘keep clean engine technology’ in in the South African market. It is well known that with un-additised fuels not only are emissions more toxic, but deposits can form within engines that negatively impact fuel economy and engine performance.”
The PumaMax 95 is the most advanced formulation of fuel additive on the South African market, acting as a detergent for both old and new engines. PumaMax’s formulation was recently revised and updated in the Australian market with benefits that include cleaner inlet valves (free from carbonaceous deposits), smooth laminar air flow around the valve stem and seat, optimal power delivery with excellent acceleration which translates into improved drivability and reduced emissions.
“Globally we have seen changes to fuel quality regulations and engine performance criteria, mainly driven by environmental impact concerns. Additised fuels with deposit control additives can help to both meet and exceed these requirements, which is why PumaMax’s ‘keep clean technology’ is the perfect choice for those wanting the most advanced form of fuel additive with significantly reduced negative impact on the vehicle engine and environment,” said Kistasamy.
As the official fuel sponsor of the 2018 Festival of Motoring, Puma Energy and car racing champion, Phillip Kekana, are providing motoring enthusiasts with track demonstrations and track experiences in high performance vehicles using the PumaMax 95 additised fuel.
“I am impressed by the efficiency and smooth performance that the PumaMax 95 fuel additive brings to my driving experiences. It makes perfect sense for racing champions like myself and for all motoring enthusiasts that are looking for the latest, most sustainable and economical fuel solutions,” said Phillip Kekana.
Additional benefits to using the PumaMax 95 fuel additive include:

Puma Energy in Africa:
Puma Energy has grown to become one of the largest independent storage and downstream companies in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Group is now present in 19 countries in Africa from Senegal to South Africa and continues to expand its footprint from West to East. Puma Energy has invested close to US$2 billion in Africa and over the last two years added 373k m3 of storage capacity to the 1.2million m3 it already had in the region. The Group has a network of 840 retail sites and storage capacity of 1.6million m3 on the continent.
Puma Energy in South Africa:
Puma Energy started its operations in South Africa in 2015, with the acquisitions of Brent Oil and Drakensberg Oil. These acquisitions have led to a significant expansion of our operations in South Africa and we continue to invest in the market to grow our retail network and our storage capacity.
Our regional hub in Johannesburg, accommodates our supply and trading teams, our fuels and lubricants department, as well as our aviation team who supplies 47 airports across Africa with Aviation fuels.
We currently operate a network of 160 retail sites, as well as two terminals with a total storage capacity of 49000m3. Market growth over the past two years has been slow at only 1–2% but with annual consumption at around 28 million m3 of fuel, there is significant potential for further growth for our business in South Africa.
