Domestic airline, PassionAir has denied reports that one of its domestic flights returned mid-air to Accra due to a fuel shortage, describing the allegations as false and misleading.

In a press release issued on Saturday, May 31, 2025, the airline clarified that Flight OP 122, which was scheduled to fly from Accra to Takoradi, departed Kotoka International Airport at 6:18 a.m. but returned approximately six minutes into the flight after the captain received an onboard indication unrelated to fuel.

"Approximately six (6) minutes after takeoff, the Captain elected to return to base due to an indication received in the flight deck not related to fuel," the statement read. "The aircraft landed safely in Accra, and our ground engineers immediately began diagnostics to address the issue."

The airline emphasised that all passengers were disembarked safely in accordance with standard operating procedures. Once the fault was identified and rectified by engineers, the aircraft was cleared for service, refuelled per normal procedure, and resumed operations under the designation Flight OP 122A without incident.

PassionAir expressed regret over the circulation of what it described as unverified and inaccurate information, assuring the public that passenger safety remains its highest priority. "We operate in strict compliance with standards set by our aviation regulator," the airline stated.

The management of PassionAir also extended an apology to passengers affected by the disruption and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
