The Car Rental Association of Ghana (CRAG) has appealed to government for GH¢10 million support to revitalise operations and enhance efficiency in the sector.
The Association said the support should include soft loans, tax incentives, import duty waivers for electric VAT reliefs, and a 30 per cent corporate tax rebate for companies with over 40 per cent green fleets to boost tourism and transport services.

He said CRAG, established in 1998, faces operational challenges such as weak regulation, unsafe vehicles, and poor driving standards, which contribute to high accident rates.
Mr Sarpong urged the Minister to support mandatory training and certification for car renters to improve road safety and build tourist confidence.
He said the Association is transitioning to a green fleet initiative and called for government incentives to support the adoption of electric vehicles, noting that many guests already use them.

He said the Association's broader vision would increase tax revenue through standardised regulation, reduce fuel imports, and minimise environmental pollution.
The Minister commended CRAG for supporting tourism development and pledged to engage the Ministry of Finance and other relevant agencies to address their concerns.
She said the Association played a vital role in job creation within the tourism ecosystem and promised to work with sector agencies to improve its operations.
