The Western Chamber Co-operative Credit Union (WESCCU) has bagged a surplus of GH¢ 7,627.15 for the period ending November 2012.
The Union also disbursed GH¢ 194,745.10 in loans with its shares standing at GH¢ 29, 456.55 within the period.
Mr. Richard Bentil, Board Chairman of WESCCU, said this at the first Annual General Meeting of the credit union in Takoradi on Wednesday.
He said the credit union, established two years ago with only 15 members and initial savings of GH¢ 1,030, now has 408 members and had grown savings to the tune of GH¢ 144,707.24.
Mr. Bentil said the union had chalked successes and these include contracting IBM professionals from Germany to do consultancy for the union, the growth in membership and establishment of the Elubo branch.
Mr. Ato Van-Ess, Chairman of the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, appealed the members to be dedicated in their savings to enable them to have access to loans to grow their businesses.
