The Last House, the science fiction film set to premiere on the platform next month, sees Fast X director Louis Leterrier take on a claustrophobic survival thriller with the help of Wagner Moura (Narcos, The Secret Agent) and Greta Lee (Past Lives, Toy Story 5).

Per Netflix's companion site, Tudum, The Last House "centers on a family (with Lee and Moura serving as the matriarch and patriarch, respectively) who are sealed into their home with no way out. If that doesn't sound nightmarish enough, their resources are running thin, and they must work together to survive not only a lack of essentials but also the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped inside."

"The Last House challenges the idea of a safe haven, turning a family home into a hostile environment where survival demands unity," Leterrier states in Tudum's press release. "This is an ordinary family's worst nightmare, pushing them to their limits to protect each other and exposing the fragility of security — and the desperate fight to reclaim it."

Riley Chung (Sunrise, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8, Dhar Mann) co-star in the film as Riley (Lee) and Noah (Moura)'s two children. Also starring are Emma Ho (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Sam Lerner (The Goldbergs), and Gabriel Barbosa (May December).

Written by Matthew Robinson (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Love and Monsters), The Last House merges the survival thriller with sci-fi elements and a dash of classic horror — think A Quiet Place meets I Am Legend.

The Last House debuts on Netflix U.S. on August 7.
