Some senior high schools in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis are ready for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) April because they have enough facilities to handle the forms three and four candidates who would be writing the examination.
Ghana Secondary Technical and Adiembra Senior High are ready for the examination in terms of securing enough examination halls for all the candidates as well as covering all the syllabi.
However, authorities at the Takoradi Senior High School said the school did not have enough facilities to accommodate all the forms three and four candidates.
The Assistant Head Master of Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) and Adiembra Senior High Schools Mr. Francis Adjei and Mr. Robert Amoah respectively told the Ghana News Agency that although two batches of students are to sit for this year's WASSCE exams, their schools are adequately prepared for the examination.
They said their schools had taken measures to ensure that students had enough examination centers and that teachers are also making sacrifices to ensure that the curriculum is covered before the examinations start.
They said the form threes would not be disadvantaged because their syllabus would have been completed before the examination and that the forms one and two academic calendars would not be affected by the changes of combining two batches of candidates.
Mr. Moses Ansah, the Assistant Headmaster of Takoradi Secondary School (TADISCO) said his school did not have enough facilities for the students.
Mr Ansah said there are insufficient examination centers for the candidates so the forms one and two students would have to vacate to make room for the final year candidates and this would affect the academic calendar of the two classes.
