Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the leading private waste company in the country has built a set of ultra modern washrooms for the Greater Accra Regional Police headquarters to help enhance good sanitation.
The project which started about a year ago, cost the management of the company about GHc204,000 and was part of its social responsibility.
Dr Joseph Agyapong Siaw, the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies which includes Zoomlion, who announced this on Monday at the commissioning of the facility in Accra said that his outfit was committed to the government's sanitation agenda.
According to him, the company would soon start the distribution of 100,000 dust bins to all regional, district and unit commands of the Ghana Police Service and also build five more modern toilet facilities for the police in five regions.
Dr Siaw hinted that his team would assist in the construction of an abandoned modern cell facility where the Greater Accra Regional police could keep hardened criminals.
Mr Mohammed Alhassan, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), said the new facility had replaced the old one which was constructed about 100 years ago and had outlived its usefulness.
The Acting IGP noted that the ultra modern facility was designed to provide the Police community with quality environmental sanitation practice to properly dispose of solid waste and help to prevent the spread of diseases.
He expressed appreciation to the management of Zoomlion Company Limited for providing the facility and called on all members of the Accra Central Police, including their families, to maintain of the facility to ensure its longevity.
