Mr Clarke Noyoru, Focal Person at the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs has called on school authorities particularly pre-school teachers to do away with the rigid methodology of teaching.
He said authorities must rather adopt simple and easy to understand medium of communication, teaching and learning for these children since Kindergarten education is meant to be enjoyable.
Mr Noyoru was speaking to the GNA at the close of a day's seminar on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) for Social Welfare, Ministry of Health and Education and District Chief Executives and other key policy implementers on Wednesday.
He said the KG stage should be a period of socialization to enable children to learn about their environment, make friends and develop language skills.
Mr Noyoru said he was not happy with the situation where such children were taken through rigorous activities.
He said he was against the use of interviews and written examinations by some school authorities before such children are admitted to class one and therefore appealed to school authorities in both private and public schools to shun the practice.
