A fishing boat carrying 10 crew members, six Chinese and four Japanese, went missing and might have capsized Tuesday off the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, according to the Japanese Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard has dispatched an airplane and a patrol boat to the area to search for the 113-ton Yamada Maru No. 2, with which contact was lost at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Li Bin, an official at the Chinese consulate in Nagasaki, confirmed the six Chinese crew members are from Zhoushan of east China's Zhejiang
Province.
Another boat found a rescue raft apparently belonging to the Yamada Maru No. 2 in the area at around 5 a.m., but no one was on it, according to
Kyodo News.
Winds of 46.8 kilometers per hour were blowing off the islands at the time.
