Forty-six out of 59 drivers arrested in Kumasi for various traffic offences have been sentenced to fines totalling GH¢8,380.00 by a circuit court.
Thirteen of the offenders were cautioned and discharged.
A statement signed by the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr K. Mensah Duku, said the cases of 11 others were being investigated.
The arrest of the drivers followed a two-day operation by the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the National Road Safety Commission.
It formed part of the exercise to check breaches of traffic regulations and bring down road accidents.
The statement said the exercise would continue and appealed for support and understanding of the travelling public.
