The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court presided over by Mr Justice Adjei Frimpong, has remanded two unemployed men, caught with firearm and other deadly weapons into police custody.
The plea of Kwasi Ofori, 23, and Abdulai Musah, 43, were not taken following a request by the prosecution to allow the police time to carry out further investigation.
They would be brought back on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah Appenteng told the court that the two were arrested by personnel of the police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on April 30, at about 0230 hours on the Kumasi-Bekwai road.
The police saw a speeding taxi cab with registration number AS 7805 N joined the main road from the Trede Junction and was flagged down.
He said a search uncovered a single-barreled gun, hack saw, cutlass and a hammer.
The prosecution said an attempt by the police to arrest the two and the driver was met with stiff resistance but Ofori and Musah were
overpowered.
He said the driver, however, managed to escape with the car and nearly run over the policemen in the process.
