The World Youth Conference to be hosted in Mexico from August 23 to 27 2010 would be the main event on the United Nations (UN) declared 2010 International Year of Youth.
The five-day conference, on the analysis of progress of the Millennium Development Goals, constitutes the first gathering place for discussions of youth issues among government representatives, legislators and NGOs.
A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Mr. Kofi Aggrey, Public Relations Manager at Ministry of Youth and Sports, said it would identify priority actions of youth to be presented in the international agenda of development beyond the Millennium Goals.
"NGOs interested in participating in the conference in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico, may access information for registration on the WYC website
www.youth2010.org",it said.
The conference's framework of reference spans the 25 years since the last International Year of Youth; through the 15 years since the declaration of the World Programme of Action for Youth of the United Nations Organisation; to include the 10 years since the Millennium Declaration; and also part of the celebration of the Bicentenary Anniversary of the Mexican independence.
It would be integrated by three fora that correspond to the strategic agents to make possible the full participation of youth in national and international developments.
These are; Government Forum, from August 25 to 27; the Social Forum made up of NGO Global Meeting and Global Interactive Forum, August 23 to 25, and the Legislators Forum from August 24 to 27 2010.
The social forum essentially presents a space for the expression of youth through the NGO Global Meeting which is open to equitable participation of two Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) from each country
of all the member states of the United Nations.
Among Social Forum Organisation Committee (SOFOC) members expected to participate in the WYC are the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), World
Organisation of the Scouts Movement, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scout.
The Global Interactive Forum offers a space for the different participants in the World Youth Conference to share practices, diagnosis, technical, and scientific reflections through round tables, workshops, conferences and an informative fair.
It is also a space for free expressions of art, culture, technology, and entertainment of the youth, allowing for audience to get involved in the youth agenda matters and the Millennium Development Goals, promoting then articulation and exchange of experiences as an international level.
The resolutions and conclusions that emerge as declaration from the various deliberations would be presented in the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September, 2010.
