The Upper East Regional Police commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bright Oduro, has called on police officers in the region to be of good behaviour and portray high moral standards.
He said that the Ghana Police Service would not condone indiscipline and any police officer caught extorting money would be punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
ASP Oduro was addressing police officers at the Annual Police Parade in Bolgatanga on Thursday.
He said that the police administration was introducing competitive promotion examination to make the Police Service effective.
ACP Oduro cautioned police personnel against granting interviews or divulging information concerning the Police Service to the media without
permission from the authorities.
He commended the police for helping to bring peace to Bawku, saying that there had been a remarkable improvement in the peace situation in area.
ACP Oduro asked security personnel, deployed to the area to maintain law and order, to discharge their duties professionally.
