Emmanuel Appiah, unemployed, was on Wednesday jailed three years in hard labour for unlawful entry and stealing by the Kade District Magistrate Court.
The prosecution told the court that on June 21 so witness in the case accompanied Appiah to the house of the complainant to collect some money.
After the complainant had handed over the money to the witness, he requested from the complainant her Dell Lap-top to see some programmes.
The prosecution said the complainant gave him the lap-top and after viewing it, he left for his house together with Appiah.
On June 22, the complainant travelled and when he she found that her room had been broken into and her lap-top valued at GHC 700, a mobile phone and its charger and some other items stolen.
The prosecution said the complainant notified all lap-top repairers about the theft and requested that if any of them should come across a black Dell lap-top bearing the serial number vostro 1500 she should be informed.
On June 27, the complainant was informed someone that he went to Topreman and saw a lap-top, which looked like hers, at an electronics
workshop.
The complainant went to the workshop and asked the repairer how he came by the lap-top.
The repairer replied that the convict sent it to him to be sold at GHC 200.
A report was made to the police and when the repairer was arrested he led the police to the house of the convict and pointed him out
as the one who sent him the lap-top.
