A porter who hit the forehead of a trader with wood, has been fined GH200.00 by a Magistrate Court at Akim Oda.
Albert Akomaning, who was convicted on his plea would be gaoled for 18 months in default.
The court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, ordered Akomaning to pay another compensation of GH200.00 to Mallam Ali, the complainant.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said Mallam Ali is a trader and a citizen from Niger.
He said Akomaning and his two accomplices now at large, taunted Mallam Ali for being a hawker who should have stayed in Niger to work.
Insp Ahenkorah said at about 1300 hours on June 30 Akomaning approached Mallam Ali under the pretext of purchasing a CD cassette from him but he refused to sell it to him.
Akomaning left and returned to the complainant in the company of the two accomplices, who without any provocation engaged Mallam Ali in a squabble and ended up hitting his forehead with a wood, which left him in a pool of blood.
They also collected his GH10.00 and took to their heels.
He said witnesses in the case chased the three persons and managed to arrest Akomaning.
