A voluntary AIDS Test organised by the Ajumak-Enyan-Essiam District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service revealed that 33 out of 1,869 people tested proved positive.
The 11 males and 22 females from the district have been referred to Breman-Asikuma Catholic Hospital for special attention.
The test, held from June 22 to July 10, was sponsored by Plan-Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organisation.
Madam Esther Amankwah, Deputy Director of the NGO told the Ghana News Agency that the test was on-going and called on the general public to participate to know their status.
She commended Plan-Ghana for providing GH�400.00 to support the programme.
She called on all infected persons to regularly attend the monthly counselling service meetings.
