A 24-year-old palm wine taper, Kofi Mark, was on Tuesday remanded in police custody by the Kade District Magistrate Court for beating his brothers wife over an earthenware bowl.
Mark pleaded guilty and will reappear on July 23.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina said both Akua Serwaa and Mark lived at Okumaning where the accused, after having been ejected from his room,
kept some of his personal belongings with her.
He said a week later Mark secured a room and went to collect his belongings from Serwaa who released them to him minus an earthenware bowl.
On June 30, Mark went to Serwaa for the bowl but she refused to release it and a quarrel ensued.
The prosecution said at mid-night on July 1, Serwaa and her mother were asleep when Mark broke into their room and subjected her to severe beatings.
The mother raised the alarm but before neighbours could rush to the scene, the accused had escaped and the case was reported to the police.
The accused was later arrested and was asked to report on July 5 but he failed to do so and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Mark was arrested on July 12 from his hideout and when he was asked in court why he beat Serwaa he said he needed the earthenware bowl to grind
pepper and was angered when the woman refused to give it to him.
