Alhaji Osuman Checkson, Chief of Mamprusi Community in the Greater Accra Region, has called on traditional rulers to help fight child labour which was eating deep into the society.
He said child labour was not allowed by law and therefore must be condemned.
Alhaji Checkson made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Tuesday.
He said traditional rulers should help children to acquire skills instead of involving themselves in the act.
Alhaji Checkson urged parents to be wary of people who come to them pretending to offer help in the caring of their children but end up
enslaving the minors.
He called for severe punishment against the perpetrators which would serve as deterrent to others.
