The cold weather being experienced in the southern part of the country, coupled with skies that appeared to be cloudy during certain periods of the day is not an indication of pending rainfall.
On the contrary the rainy season has ended over the southern part of the country.
Torgbui Gbebie Fiamekor, the Principal Meteorologist at Kotoka International Airport, told Ghana News Agency in an interview that a
meteorological situation he described as the "unstable nature of the atmosphere" had shifted inland to the Sahel regions.
He said the coastal and southern sectors were relatively stable, adding that the weather associated with that stability was morning cloudiness with light drizzling and the afternoons would be fair with periods of sunshine.
Torgbui Fiamekor said the stability was caused by rising atmospheric pressures and weather conditions in the southern part of the country did not favour heavy rainfall.
"The present weather condition would continue with some atmospheric dryness until August and the minor or second rainy season for the year would
begin in September," he added.
Torgbui Fiamekor said the northern part of the country was experiencing rainy season now, Upper East and West Regions would peak up in August, while the middle region would peak in September.
