Alhaji Alhassan Umar, Vice Chairman of the Association of Principals of Technical Institutes, has commended Nkoranza South District Assembly for providing infrastructure to help promote effective teaching and learning at Nkoranza Technical Institute.
Alhaji Umar said this when executive members of the association paid a courtesy call on Madam Phillipa Banson, District Director of Education, at Nkoranza.
He expressed appreciation for the governments interest in the promotion of technical education by supporting the assembly to construct classroom blocks, dormitory and teachers bungalow at the institute.
The future of Nkoranza Technical Institute is very bright since it is the only technical institute in the Brong-Ahafo Region, he said.
Alhaji Umar appealed to the District Directorate of Education to support the institute to undertake campaigns to educate parents on the need to enrol their children in the institute.
Madam Banson said Ghana needed more technical expertise and it was the responsibility of the principals to ensure that skilled men and women were turned out for national development.
She paid tribute to the district assembly for being supportive to educational programmes and activities in the district.
Mr. Albert Adusei, Principal of the Nkoranza Technical Institute, said the institute started with a population of 70 in 2007 and had increased to 267 with 22 teaching and nine non-teaching staff.
Mr. Adusei said lack of school bus was a major challenge to the Institute and appealed to the government to assist.
