Nana Abena Apee III, Tufuhemaa of Himan Prestea Division of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area in the Western Region, has urged parents to cooperate with school authorities for effective and efficient training of their children.
She told parents "you should not dictate to the school authorities on the day-to-day running of their schools, but rather show more concern in the training of the children and attend Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA)meetings regularly."
Nana Apee made the call at the second graduation of Annsco School at Odorkor Official Town in Accra on Tuesday.
"The PTA contributes to school's development and parents must be encouraged to participate in its activities. They should be careful not to
dictate to the school authorities or interfere with the day-to-day administration of the school," she added.
Mr Cyril Yeboah-Otu, Head-teacher of Annsco School, said it was established in 1983 with about 30 pupils, but now had 115 pupils with staff
strength of 10.
He said delays in the payment of school fees by parents, lack of adequate computers for the pupils and library books were some of the
challenges facing the authorities.
Meanwhile, Mr Yeboah-Out expressed appreciation to parents of the school for showing keen interest in the affairs of their wards with increase attendance at PTA meetings.
Certificates were presented to the 15 pupils, who graduated from kindergarten (KG 2) to primary one.
Awards were presented to those, who excelled academically, with Miss Linda Botchwey receiving the overall best award.
