Final year students of the All Nations University at the weekend donated a set of computers with accessories, toys, detergents and biscuits valued at 2,000 Ghana Cedis to the Children's Ward of the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The gesture formed part of activities marking the celebration of the Business Administration Students Association (BASA) week of the university under the theme; "Developing Africa, the Role of Business Students".
Ms Gifty Rhoda Afful, President of BASA, indicated that the donation was to provide an opportunity for sick children who had recovered a little to have access to and learn how to use the computer.
She said the presentation was to provide the children the opportunity that they the students never had at their childhood, as their contribution to the development of the country.
Ms Afful explained that the selection of the theme for the celebration was to inculcate into the final year students the need to go out to establish their own businesses to create wealth and employment.
Mrs Linda Ayittey, Deputy Director of Nursing Services, who received the items, assured the students that the items would be made available to the children of the ward.
However, she said the ward would also use it to collect data on the various sicknesses suffered by children brought to the ward to enable policy makers to take effective decisions on the treatment of the children.
