The Bank of Ghana (BOG) on Wednesday presented a cheque for GH�15,000 towards the National Farmers Day celebration on Friday, December 3, in the Eastern Region.
The presentation to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) is the fifth and final towards the celebration to honour deserving and hard working farmers and fishermen who had contributed towards national development.
Fourteen other companies that made donations towards the celebration included, Pioneer Food Cannery - 40 cartons of Tuna, worth GH�4,000 and a cheque for GH�5,000, FIFAC Limited-10 boxes of organic fertiliser and a cheque for GH�1,200, Golden Stock Ghana Limited and Huge Limited, each gave 50 cartons of herbicides worth GH�5,000, and spraying machines valued at GH�4000.
DANNEX Limited donated 15 cartons of assorted poultry feeds worth GH�2,000, Chemicro Ghana Limited presented 100 pieces of knapsacks spraying machines and a cheque for GH�10,000, Ghana Cotton Company limited - a motor cycle and a cheque for GH�1,000.
Dizengoff Ghana Limited, presented 100 bags of potassium nitrate fertilisers, 120 cartons each of rival glyphosate and glphogan weedicides,
10,000 cartons of moscacid anti-flies,25 jack X-15 knapsacks and 25 ULV sprayers all totalling GH�15,000 and a cheque for GH�5,000.
The rest were Mulivet which presented 60 cartons of weedicides, and seven cartons of heat stress, Golden exotic GH�2,000, Kaygee Enterprise GH�400; RESIGHA Limited GH�500, Global Haulage GH�5,000 and SIC Limited
GH�3,000 and a sponsorship package for the national best farmer.
Receiving the items, Mr Yaw Effah-Baafi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in-Charge of Crops, expressed gratitude to all companies that had donated towards the celebration.
He noted that their contributions would encourage farmers to increase production towards food sufficiency.
