A Koforidua Magistrate Court presided over by Ms Priscilla Yeboah, has sentenced Emmanuel Kofi Awotwe, an unemployed youngman from New Tafo, to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour.
Awotwe pleaded guilty to the two counts of conspiracy to steal and stealing.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Owusu Bronya said the convict and an accomplice, now at large, went to the Helios Tower mast site of the Tigo
Company at Koforidua on November 22 and siphoned diesel from the tank of the generator.
The convict was spotted conveying a gallon containing some liquid and when questioned about the content he abandoned the gallon and took to his heals.
Inspector Bronya said the convict was chased and arrested and when the gallon was inspected it was found to contain diesel.
He was escorted to the police station and led the police to a spot where two containers containing diesel, two empty gallons, keys, screw
drivers, a jacket, rubber hose and slippers were found.
The convict admitted the offence and mentioned one Baba Ibrahim as his accomplice.
