A Nkawie circuit court presided over by Mr Justice Noble Nkrumah has sentenced two armed robbers to a total of 205 years in jail.
Baba Sunday, alias "Akobir", 27, a porter, and Stanley Mensah, 26, a labourer, belonged to an armed gang who robbed and raped their victims at Apatrapa and Pokukrom near Tanoso in Kumasi.
They both denied the offence.
Sunday was handed a jail term of 115 years, whilst Mensah goes in for 90 years.
Mrs Afia Serwah Asante told the court that for sometime now robbers had been terrorizing residents at Apatrapa and other nearby communities.
They did not only seize cash and valuables but sexually abused some of the female victims.
On June 5 at about 0300, the police at Abuakwa received a distressed call from the area and a patrol team was sent there.
The prosecution said the robbers took to their heels when they saw the police and were given a hot chase.
They caught up with Sunday and Mensah and arrested them but the others managed to slip through.
The convicts were later identified by their victims.
