The Big 10 Club, a benevolent organization based in Techiman in Brong Ahafo, has donated quantities of assorted items valued at GH¢200 to Frankmay New Life Orphanage Home also in Techiman.
The items included soft drinks, rice, biscuits, soaps, toilet rolls, drugs and a ludo game.
The donation formed part of the launch of the Club, which was established two years ago.
Presenting the items, Nana Ameyaw Yeboah II, Sikaahene and Chairman of the Club, said the donation was aimed among other things at supporting the orphanage.
He said the Club was established to seek the welfare of members and also provided benevolent service to society and impressed upon other people in the area to join the club.
Nana Ameyaw appealed to the public to contribute their widow’s mite to support the orphanage and other needy people in the community.
Mr Amos Annoh, Secretary of the Club, said the donation was not going to be the first and the last and expressed the hope that it would be put to good use by the orphanage.
Madam Mary Apusiyene, a proprietress of the Home, thanked the Club for the donation and indicated that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
She said currently the orphanage had 20 inmates but noted that an additional 16 children were with other care-takers.
The youngest inmate is nine months old and the oldest 18 years, who is now a student at St. Charles Senior High School.
Madam Apusiyene appealed to philanthropists to come to the aid of the orphanage and help to register the children to benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
