One of the victims of the Kwesimintin accident is to air lifted to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for treatment.
Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister had personally been to the Air force base in Takoradi to facilitate the air lift, A source at the Regional Coordinating Council told the Ghana News Agency that
Three persons died in the tragic accident that occurred at the Kwesimintsim Cemetery in Takoradi involving school children on Friday.
According to the Medical Director of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr Paul Nkwaw Ntodi, two school children died on the spot whilst a 58-year old woman who tried to assist the children also died at the casualty ward yesterday evening.
Dr. Ntodi said the medical personnel at the hospital spent almost six hours on the injured victims at the theatre.
He said at the moment one is in a critical condition at the theatre, one at the X-ray Department and one person treated and discharged.
The Effia-Nkwanta Hospital Medical Director said the new Accident Emergency Ward, which started in 2008 had not been completed and called on philanthropists and corporate organizations in the country to help complete it.
Dr. Ntodi told newsmen at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, when the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo and his entourage visited the victims at the casualty ward.
The Regional Minister empathised with the relatives of the victims who were at the hospital and gave GHc200 each to the relatives of the victims to defray some of the medical expenses incurred on their wards and pledged to offer more financial support to them in due course.
The relatives expressed their gratitude to the Regional Minister for his concern and support.
The Regional Minister was accompanied by the Western Regional MTTU Commander, DSP Daniel Dzakah, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive.
