Nepali capital Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas received snowfall Sunday after four years. The valley had witnessed last snowfall after 62 years on Feb. 14, 2007.
Nagarkot, Chandragiri hills surrounding the valley and some lower parts received snowfall Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds of folks visited Nagarkot in the evening to enjoy the snowfall following media reports on snowfall.
Most of the visitors stayed in Nagarkot expecting more snowfall at night while many were seen heading to Nagarkot late in the evening hoping for more snowfall.
However, the weathermen in Kathmandu said the possibility of more snowfall was remote.
"Actually the westerly wind system is not strong enough for more snowfall and the weather will be fine by Monday evening," said Shiva Nepal,Senior Meteorologist, Meteorological Forecasting Division. "Snowfall in winter in high hills is a regular phenomenon
in the nation but it is special if a valley like Kathmandu receives snowfall," he said.
