Two persons died on Monday when their vehicle rammed into the rear of an articulator truck at Techire, near Duayaw Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Latebu, Duayaw Nkwanta District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that at about 1900 hours, a Benz car with registration number AS 3473U run into the rear of an articulator truck with registration number GW512P which was loaded with goods, and also heading towards Sunyani from Kumasi.
He said Kwame Asamoah, the 36 year old driver of the car, died on the spot whilst the other passenger, Haruna Seidu, 30, who was rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital died later.
ASP Latebu said the body of the driver had been deposited at Saint John of God’s hospital at Duayaw Nkwanta whilst that of Seidu had been released to his Moslem family members for burial.
He said the Benz car was damaged beyond recognition but the driver and “mate” of the articulator truck escaped unhurt.
The truck had been impounded for further investigations.
