A male head porter, Francis Yeboah, was on Thursday arraigned before the Kade District Magistrate Court charged with stealing a mobile phone.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted GH¢1,500 bail.
However, as Yeboah could not get anyone to stand surety for him, he was remanded in prison custody till February 15.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, told the court that on January 20, the accused went to the house of the complainant to buy a newspaper but did not meet her.
He, however, bought the paper and left.
When she came back, the complainant remembered that she had left her Nokia mobile phone valued at GH¢240 in her kitchen which is at the front of the house. So she went there to pick the phone but it was nowhere to be found.
A few days later, the convict went back to the complainant’s house again to buy a newspaper and he was arrested.
The convict was later sent to police station where a report was made and after some investigation he was charged with the offence.
