Mr. Sylvester Amankwaa-Koranteng, Nkoranza North District Deputy Coordinating Director, has urged National Service Personnel to exhibit good morals in the communities they operated in.
He told them to use the knowledge and skills they had acquired to contribute to the development of the communities so parents could encourage their children to also further their education.
Mr. Amankwaa-Koranteng was addressing national service personnel posted to the district at an orientation workshop at Busunya.
He expressed regret about how some students after acquiring knowledge and experiences engaged in social vices, saying such negative practices caused some parents to shirk their responsibilities to their children.
He said they should regard themselves as “agents of change” since the people expected them to help improve the conditions and situations in the communities.
Mr. Amankwaa-Koranteng called on heads of departments that had engaged the service personnel to cooperate with them and to offer the necessary support, guidelines and encouragement so they would perform to expectation.
Mr. Samuel Atta Gyesew, Nkoranza North District Director of the National Service Scheme, said 74 personnel were posted to serve in the district and had been engaged in decentralized departments.
He said poor roads and lack of accommodation were the major problems that faced the personnel in the district and appealed to Assembly Members, Unit Committees and traditional authorities to help acquire decent accommodation for personnel posted to their areas.
Mr. Seth Badu, Nkoranza North District Assistant Director of Education, advised the personnel to be punctual and regular at work to win the confidence of their heads of department.
