The Dormaa Circuit Court presided by Mr. Alexander Osei Tutu has remanded Ibrahim Mahamadu, a Sunyani-based sawmill operator into prison custody for allegedly stealing eight cell phones valued at GHC375.00 at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Mahamadu pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and theft and would re-appear on February 15.
Inspector Charles Agovi told the court the complainant was a cell-phone repairer and a third-year student of Dormaa Senior High School.
He said on February 3 the complainant kept eight mobile phones on the floor beside his bed and went to sleep.
Inspector Agovi said at 0400 hours the next day an unusual noise woke him up and he saw Mahamadu in his room holding the eight phones.
He said Mahamadu took to his heels but was immediately arrested by some neighbours and when searched one of the phones was recovered from his pocket.
Prosecution added that Mahamadu’s pursuers later re-traced his footprints to the complainant’s house and saw the remaining seven phones scattered along the route.
A search conducted on him at the police charge office revealed a pair of scissors, a pair of pliers and two screw drivers.
