Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, has appealed to teachers to redouble efforts to ensure a remarkable improvement in the standard of education.
He urged all workers to work harder to commensurate their demands for better conditions of service.
Mr. Agyekum was addressing a meeting of Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of Kwabre Senior High School at Akuma, which coincided with a send-off party for the acting headmaster, Mr. Seth Badu, who is on transfer to Nkoranza North District Directorate of Education.
He expressed concern about the practice of some teachers who abandoned the classroom to attend to their private businesses and cautioned such “selfish” teachers to change.
Madam Philippa Banson, Nkoranza South District Director of Education, called on parents of the school to team up with the teachers towards the growth of the school, the second in the district.
The in-coming headmaster of the school, Mr. Agyapong Duah, said the school which started with a population of 37 in the year 2007 now has 290 students.
Mr Duah said the school was preparing the first batch of 85 students to write this year’s West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and that the teachers were working hard for the pioneers to achieve better results for the school.
Nana Asare Fofie, an elder of the community and a retired educationist who presided appealed to the District Director of Education and the District Chief executive to liaise with the Government to adopt the school into the public sector.
