A driver facing a charge of fraudulent breach of trust for stealing his master’s taxi cab, on
Friday told the Kade District Magistrate’s Court that he had done wrong.
Eric Kwaku Offei pleaded with the court to deal leniently with him, “I have wronged my master and cannot litigate with him”, he said.
He has been admitted to a GH¢3,000 bail with two sureties, one of whom is to have residential address in the Kwaebibirem District.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina said the complainant was a farmer and the accused a driver and both were resident at Okumaning.
The complainant owned an Opel Kadeth taxi cab and some time in January, the accused went to him to express his interest in driving the taxi.
The complainant, who was searching for a driver, released the vehicle to him to work.
Offei after working with the taxi for three days without making any sales to the complainant left Okumaning to an unknown destination taking the vehicle along with him.
The complainant searched for the accused but all efforts made to trace him or his taxi proved futile.
The complainant later had information that the accused was hiding at Larteh with the vehicle.
He went to Larteh where he met the driver working with the taxi, but the driver on seeing him took to his heels leaving the taxi behind.
With the help of another driver, the car owner brought the taxi back to Okumaning.
On February 07, a report was made to the Kade police by the complainant and on the same date the accused was arrested by the Larteh police and escorted to the Kade police station.
