The police in central north Nigeria's Nasarawa State has said officers and men are on alert to forestall disruption of public peace in the state.
State commissioner of police Emmanuel Obioka disclosed this to reporters in Lafia, the state capital on Saturday.
Obioka lamented the post-election crises that erupted in some parts of the country.
"Although Nasarawa State people have been known to live in peace with one another over the years in spite of their political differences and other affiliations, we are not resting on our oars," he said.
"We are vigilant in case anyone tries to disturb the peace we have been having in the state," he added.
He said uniformed and plain-clothes officers and men of the command had been deployed to all the nooks and crannies of the state to contain any act that could lead to crisis.
He urged members of the public to go about their lawful businesses and inform the nearest security outfits in their areas of any suspicious movement.
