Rev. Joshua Boama-Darko, Second Minister of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, in Cape Coast, over the weekend, exhorted Ghanaians to pick a lesson from the death of Jesus Christ on the cross to “die a little for one another”.
He said Ghanaians should be patriotic enough to demonstrate unconditional love for the nation and adopt the culture of helping one another with greatest humility, for the peace and unity the country has enjoyed over the years to reign forever.
Rev. Boama-Darko gave the exhortation in his Easter message to Ghanaian, saying that, there was the need for Ghanaians to think of what they could do for the nation instead asking what the country could do for them.
“The strong should help the weak, the younger serve the older, and the well endowed, extend assistance to the less endowed, to make
the world a better place for all”, he stressed.
He said Jesus Christ left an example for leaders, by washing the feet of his servants, so leaders of various institutions need to lead
exemplary lives.
He expressed concern about the lawlessness on the roads, and how state owned vehicles are being misused. He cautioned drivers to drive
carefully to avoid any accident during and after the festivities.
Rev. Boama-Darko advised that people should develop a positive mind set and desist from littering around indiscriminately.
The Anglican Bishop of Cape Coast, Bishop Daniel Allotey asked Ghanaians lead simple life’s and not to be egoistic, and also seek the
welfare of others and the nation at large, to accelerate the country’s growth.
He was unhappy that most people, especially those in power, are only concerned about their comfort and securing their positions, instead of building the nation for the comfort of all.
In his Easter message to Ghanaians, Bishop Allotey exhorted all Ghanaians to emulate the sacrificial traits of God, who gave up His
only son to die for mankind, adding that, Easter was about the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ and it symbolizes victory for Him and His followers.
The Bishop said with the resurrection of Christ everything was possible and appealed to Ghanaians to be optimistic and eschew all
negative mindsets.
