George Kweku Mawuli alias ‘Kaka’ has been convicted to a fine of GH¢ 360 by a Hohoe Circuit court for stealing barbering clippers and a wrist watch totalling GH¢ 178.
Mawuli pleaded guilty to stealing the items and would serve a nine-month prison term in default.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Benjamin Dadzie said the convict, an apprentice of the complainant, used the absence of his master to steal two barbering clippers and a watch in February 2006.
He said Mawuli, who had a spare key to the salon, took advantage of the absence of his master who was admitted to the Hohoe Hospital and stole the items.
Mr Dadzie said the complainant was discharged on February 25 and could not find the items and all efforts to track down Mawuli proved futile.
He said complainant spotted the convict at the main Hohoe Lorry Park and caused his arrest and he admitted the offence.
Mr Dadzie said Mawuli again disobeyed the grace period given to him to redeem his indebtedness leading to his prosecution and sentence.
