SOS Children’s Villages Ghana, has embarked on a “Quality Education Now (QEN)” project as part of efforts to create an enabling environment to manage school properties used by churches for their services.
The SOS Villages Ghana therefore met with stakeholders including traditional leaders, head teachers and head pastors at Asokore Mampong and Parkoso communities in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The purpose of the meeting was to arrive at a consensus on how best they could harness their resources to together to maintain and sustain school properties precisely school tables and chairs.
Mr Joseph Kudjo Yane, the Project Co-ordinator of the QEN project at the Kumasi Project location, made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Asokere Mampong.
He said the meeting was in line with the objectives of the QEN project to provide an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning in the Municipality.
He added that the frequent reports made by teachers and head teachers to the Circuit Supervisor and the assembly member for the area was what prompted QEN to facilitate the dialogue process.
Mr Yane said the meeting came to the consensus that the churches should continue to use the classrooms under the condition that they would contribute a quota to the schools to help cut down cost when mending the broken down tables and chairs.
Head teachers were also urged to sign agreements with the churches to be responsible for school properties and help put the classrooms in good shape.
