The Heritage Africa Concepts would hold a maiden Ga-Dangme Excellence Awards in December, this year in Accra, to reward individuals who have contributed immensely to the development of Ga-Dangme communities.
The award is the initiative of Mr Clement Nii Ablorh Kommey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Heritage Africa Concept and being supported by Dr Nii Kotei Djani, a member of the Council of State and the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.
The prestigious annual honorary awards would recognise Ga-Dangmes and non-Ga-Dangme individuals who had shown consistent and demonstrated integrity and strong commitment to the growth of Ga-Dangmes.
A statement by Mr Kommey and copied to the Ghana News Agency said it was aimed at recognizing and rewarding excellent achievers in various industries and to also promote the Ga-Dangme culture as well as to encourage the youth to continue with their efforts of building a prosperous nation.
It said the initiative would also be a platform for the awardees and corporate institutions to fraternize with colleagues, partners and investors to help build a solid and prosperous Ghana. The statement said the award would be in three categories namely, industry, meritorious and diasporian awards.
It said individuals of 12 industries who excelled in their respective areas have been put together to be recognized; meritorious awards would be conferred on individuals who have made a significant impact on Ga-Dangme communities through outstanding dedication, competence, excellent service and demonstrated ingenuity in their career path and have persistently supported and fought for the unity of Ga-Dangmes.
The diasporan awards would recognize individuals who have made a significant difference through outstanding dedication and competence in the Ghanaian communities, especially Ga-Dangmes in the diaspora, the statement said.
It assured Ghanaians that the event would portray the culture and value of the Ga-Dangmes and advised the youth to participate and to hold on to their precious cultural values.
