The pupils of the Nkawkaw Methodist Primary ‘B’ School can now concentrate on their studies without worrying about the challenges of attending to nature’s call because the McOttley Empowerment Foundation (MEF), has constructed and presented a three-seater modern bio-fill toilet facility for them.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to meet the needs of members of the society, McOttley Capital through its Empowerment Foundation, provided the facility at the cost of GH¢18,000.
A statement issued by the Company, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, on Wednesday said the School, which had been in existence since 1973 but had never had toilet facilities, thus making the children trek to find places of convenience, being exposed to the related the discomfort and dangers.
Mrs Happy Forson, the Managing Director of McOttley Capital said: “As part of our CSR, we support causes like these because we believe in empowering our children too, and we would want them to have access to these basic facilities.
“We, at McOttley, believe that the best way to contribute to our society and the country is to support projects in such communities, though we don’t have offices in such locations.” She urged the School and community to keep the facility clean in order to promote good hygiene and prevent diseases.
Mrs Ahadzi, Headmistress of the school expressed her profound gratitude, on behalf of the School, encouraged the children to practice good sanitation habits. The statement said McOttley Capital had undertaken philanthropic activities such as donations to the June 3rd Flood victims, sponsoring the surgery of a four- year old hole-in-heart boy, donating to the Dzorwulu Special School, and recently supported the Joy FM Next-to-Die documentary.
