The Ashesi Student Council, held its 9th annual Ubora awards; a night of glamour, characterized by fine dining, music, and performances. Since the first edition of the awards ceremony, initiated by the Student Council in 2010 to recognize student achievement, Ubora Awards has becomes the most anticipated event on the school calendar. 

Held at the Unique Floral Events Center in Accra, this year’s awards night was organized in partnership with Ashesi Venture capital and Hilltop Online Radio.

"Ubora which means excellence is Swahili serves as a highlight of the academic year for students, staff and faculty," shared Edwin Adatsi '19, Student Council President. "It helps us as a community to recognize, award and celebrate individuals who are consistently making strides in our community and upholding our values as a community."

Student Excellence Award - David Sasu '19

To a student who exhibits academic excellence both inside and outside of a classroom. This student is intellectually curious and constantly asks questions that broaden the conversation and is committed to proactively sharing knowledge with peers.

Entrepreneurial spirit– Ezekiel Hormeku '19 

To a student or student group who exemplifies the ideals of entrepreneurship and puts business theory to practice in a socially conscious way.

Innovation-in-action - David Sasu '19

To a student who uses their knowledge in Computer Science to constantly improve the lives of others and assist peers with IT related issues.

Sportsman and Woman of the year - Seyram Kartey '19 and Nana Ama Ayenor '20

To a male and female student who have shown keen interest in sports and are committed to improving sports at Ashesi.
