First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo on Tuesday presented assorted items to three needy institutions to help support their operations in providing care to the marginalized in the society.
The institutions are the Kyebi School for the Deaf in the Abuakwa South Constituency, and SOS Asiakwa, all in the Eastern Region; and the Mother Care Orphanage in the Gomoa Central Constituency of the Central Region.
Each of the institutions were presented with various items including 30 bags of rice, three boxes of tin tomatoes, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of frozen meat, soya milk drinks as well as five boxes of shoes.
At the presentation ceremony in Accra, Mrs Akufo-Addo, who is also the head of the Rebecca Foundation, said the items were being handed over to the institutions to “assist those who take care of needy and marginalized children.
Mr Samuel Ataa Akyea, Minister for Works and Housing, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, and led a delegation of students and school authorities from the Kyebi School of the Deaf and the SOS Asiakwa, commended the First Lady for her special care for the needy and those who are challenged in society.
He prayed for more resources to the Rebecca Foundation to enable it continue to give more to the needy, especially children in the society.
Madam Naana Eyiah, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central and Madam Joyce Obeng, Founder and Director of the Mother Care Orphanage, thanked Mrs Akufo-Addo for assisting the orphanage with the vital donation.
Madam Obeng said the food items would help in feeding the children while the shoes have come in handy for the pupils to use.
