The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in collaboration with other State Agencies has organised a three-day workshop for Civic Society Organisations (CSO) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The workshop sought to sensitise participants on the SDGs and its main means of implementation, which was coordinated by the SDGs Implementation Coordination Committee.
It is made up of the state agencies as part of the voluntary National Report being organised in Tamale, Kumasi and Cape Coast.
The Tamale consultation was on the theme: "Leaving no one behind", and taken from the SDGs and represented by relevant agencies and CSOs such as UNICEF, NORSAC, Ghana Federation of Disability Organisation's (GFD) and World Food Programme (WFP).
Mr Salifu Saeed, the Northern Regional Minister in a speech read on his behalf expressed joy about the enthusiasm of participants to support the implementation of SDGs in Ghana.
He urged the public to consolidate, renew and reinforce commitment towards the tenets of the SDGs which demanded that, all sectors of society were actively engaged in their implementations.
Mr Mohammed Dzantama, a representative of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) applauded the organisers of the workshop and appealed to government to promote inclusion and increased equality across the nation.
He further called on government to engage and collaborate with and support CSOs to ensure an even and more inclusive development in the country.
Madam Margaret Gwada, the Chief Field Officer of UNICEF said there was the need to ensure more effective and efficient resource allocation and expenditure to SDGs in order to achieve their aim.
She gave the assurance that, UNICEF was committed to supporting Ghana in achieving the SDGs and that the goals could not be achieved unless the life of everyone was improved.
Mr Mohammed Ukasha, the Programmes Manager for NORSAC, who read a speech on behalf of the participating CSOs said it was prudent to reaffirm commitment to human rights as a nation, in order to pull everyone along to fulfil the goal of leave no one e behind.
He called on everyone to coordinate efforts to promote higher standards of participation and accountability at every step of implementation of the 2030 agenda of leaving no one behind.
