The National Development Planning Commission's (NDPC) Second National Development Forum (NDF) has be slated for Thursday, June 27, from 1730 hours to 1930 hours at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, Accra.
A statement issued by the NDPC and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the keynote address would be delivered by Mr Charles K. Boakye of the Institute for Infrastructure Development, with interventions from major professional associations of the infrastructure sub-sectors.
It said the forum aims to inform and solicit the views of individuals and diverse stakeholder groups on critical development issues.
It said the second forum under the theme: "Modernising Infrastructure for Accelerated Development: The Ghana Infrastructure Plan" seeks to explore the prospects of significantly enhancing the infrastructure base of the country, as would be commensurate with the long-term vision of a solidly developed nation.
The statement said the forum would draw from the Ghana Infrastructure Plan (GIP), which the Commission had prepared covering key infrastructure such as ICT, Energy, Railways, Roads, Aviation, Ports, Water Resources and Sanitation.
It noted that the forum would inform participants and the general public on the GIP and also galvanise support for its implementation.
It said the Commission initiated the monthly development forum in May 2019, to ensure sustained interest and broad support of Ghanaians around key developmental issues, engage the public on development policy, and promote ownership and accountability for the implementation of national priorities.
It said the forum aims to foster continuous engagement with the public and generate feedback for the policy process.
The statement said the forum serves to share information on development issues, and build consensus around broad national aspirations and priorities, manage expectations regarding Ghana's development and engender a hopeful and actively engaged populace.
It said the forum would stream live on NDPC social media handles – NDPC Ghana (Facebook), and @ndpcghana (Twitter).
It said inputs, questions and comments on the theme could be sent to both social media handles and Whatsapp number; 0540-960-315.
