The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has called for the collective efforts of stakeholders tackle the outbreak of bushfires and incidence of Cerebral Spinal Meningitis (CSM) that had become widespread.
A release issued by the Regional NADMO Secretariat in Kumasi on Wednesday and signed by Alhaji Mohammed Moro, the Public Relations Officer, said it was incumbent on assembly members, Unit committees, social groups and traditional authorities to team up and find solution to the problem.
The release said even though bushfires were rampant, CSM had become a threat to economic activities and should be given equal attention.
It said CSM was not confined to northern parts of the country, but now detected in other areas.
The statement therefore, advised people to avoid sleeping in poorly ventilated rooms and report any symptom or incidence of CSM to the nearest health facility for attention.
