A total of 450 students have attended the Lead Your Self National Youth Leadership Conference 2025 organized by the David Douglas Leadership Forum (DDLF), a non profit organization at Adisadel College, in Cape Coast.
The event was on the theme; ‘‘Ethical Leadership and Decision Making,Developing Personal Leadership Skills.’’
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday said Professor Pikay Richardson, Visiting Senior Fellow, Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, cautioned the student leaders to avoid shortcuts to success as it led to regret and failure.
He urged them to deploy time, effort and persistence in their journey towards a successful leadership.
Professor Richardson cautioned the students not to chase material things in the wake of social media trends but to focus on the true meaning of life, which was a life of decency and integrity and ensure that they left behind a positive legacy for others to emulate.
‘Ethical leadership is doing what’s right even when its hard, this matters due to the fact that social media ad quick success tempts us daily, he said.’
In his welcoming address, David Douglas Tengey, Executive Director of DDLF stated that the future of Ghana and the world as a whole was in the youth.
He noted that,‘‘We invest in the future by equipping you with the skills, values and vision necessary to lead with integrity, courage and purpose.’’
He added that the event reflected the pressing need of the time which were self-awareness, resilience, collaboration, critical thinking and ethical leadership.
‘’These are not just professional skills, they are life skills and they will determine how you navigate challenges, inspire change and leave your mark on the world.
Speakers and panelists at the event were Dr. Mike Amofa Dankwa, Kobby Kyei Media, Dr. Kaprece James, and Bridgars Awonor.
Present at the conference was students and teachers of Ghana National College, Mfantsipim School, Adisadel College, Mfansteman Girls and St. Augustine’s College.
