The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has launched the 2025 Tree for Life Project, a flagship initiative to promote environmental sustainability, improve public health, and enhance green spaces within the municipality.
The project was launched on August 22 at the assembly's polyclinic premises in the Odorkor Been-To area, with stakeholders, staff, community members and dignitaries in attendance.
Among the dignitaries were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly, Adamu Musa Kalamu; the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Vera Akuffo Mante; the Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly, Ibrahim Sulley; the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Hopeson Blewu, and the Municipal Director of Health, Dr Amida Rahman, all pledging their support for the success of the project.
Speaking at the launch, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) reaffirmed the assembly's commitment to climate change mitigation.
He stated that the Tree for Life Project extends beyond merely planting trees to nurturing them to maturity.
“Trees contribute significantly to cleaner air, shade and the overall well-being of residents, especially in fast-growing urban communities," he noted.
