The Energy Commission has announced plans to roll out a clean cooking campaign aimed at protecting the environment and promoting cleaner cooking options.
This was disclosed at the West African Clean Energy and Environment Trade Fair and Conference 2025, which brought together experts, innovators, and leaders from across West Africa to address issues related to climate change and other initiatives focused on environmental protection and green solutions.

Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, November 11, on the sidelines of the conference themed “Greener Solutions, Stronger Environment,” the Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Eunice Biritwum, explained that the initiative is a partnership between the Energy Commission and the Ministry of Energy, funded by the World Bank, and forms part of efforts to support the ongoing formulation of the Clean Cooking Policy.

“The Energy Commission, working together with the Ministry of Energy, with funding from the World Bank, is spearheading a cleaner cooking project. We are putting together a policy and a regulation around cleaner cooking just to help make sure that the products that are coming out are fit for purpose, and then they achieve the purpose for which it was done. We are encouraging women to go into clean cooking,” she stated.
